PEGS In the centre of the lake is a small island. Currently the lake has around 30 pegs including some for disabled access. There is a current action plan to re develop some parts of the lake including the installation of some new pegs and hard standing areas. Some of the reed beds are due to be pruned back and the general aesthetics improved throughout the summer.
DEPTHS / FEATURES OF THE Depths vary from the inside shelf approx 2.5’ to the average depth which is around 8 to 9’. Opposite the Conservation & Duck Feeding Area and beyond the island, the depth increases to approx 10 to 11’. There are 2 flat bottom plateau’s near to the island and it is a good idea to plumb up carefully to find the right level. FISHING METHODS Methods by locals tend to be for the bigger Carp and they tend use heavy duty rods and reels fitted with 7 to 10lb line. There are quite a few 20lb + Carp and reports of carp up to approx 28lb Main baits for the Carp are boilies / mussels / corn. The average size of the Carp being around 7 to 8lb. Spodding with particle baits such as Hemp, Wheat, and various Pulses does pay dividends over a period of time. At the time of writing (June) night fishing is allowed but this currently is being monitored closely.
