 Nigel Lowthrop Manager of the highly successful eco / biodiversity project in
Hill Holt is an award winning "Social Enterprise" business model which has very similar aims to those of Get Hooked on Fishing. His business is works with stakeholders in the region and works in partnership to engage with young people, especially those who have disengaged with mainstream education or those classed as "at risk".
The project set in a private woodland near to Newark offers young people the opportunity to design and build various eco friendly constructions. Skills are learnt through the projects many woodland wardens.
Project Leader for Get Hooked on Fishing, Mark Fenty was delighted with the visit. Mark says "the venue is simply stunning. Nigel and his co workers have created a natural working environment which gives the young people real specialist practical and lifelong personal skills.
The additional purpose of the visit was to discuss and explore the type of social enterprise company Nigel Created as Get Hooked is about to create a new non profit making business early in 2010".
Mark thanked Business Link advisor Paul Nevin who arranged the meeting. Paul is exploring a new grant opportunity which may enable Hill Holt Boss Nigel to act as a "Peer Mentor" to Get Hooked on Fishing. |
