The group participated also in a range of indoor activities such as: Play Group Discussions, Group Tasks and Team Building Exercises. The food was amazing and the staff and facilities were top quality. Brathay is acknowledged as one of the best activity centre's in the UK it has a superb reputation for working with young people and developing their practical and social skills.

"My time at Brathay has made me feel a lot more confident speaking to new groups of people; I have proven to myself, that anything is possible, if you are willing to give new things a try. The team building exercises were great, as we all had to work together to overcome the tasks as a group. The tutors were really easy going, which made me feel a lot more positive in getting to know them and the team. I think my time at Brathay will benefit me as a coach as I am always working in a team with other coach's."
Comments- Scott Downey - Apprentice Football Coach
"Since being back, from Brathay, I have really got on with my work and also started talking to a lot more people and getting involved with a lot more activities that I never used to take part in, friends of mine have started coming and speaking to me about things they think I can help them with because they know I will listen to them. Thank you Brathay for giving me an unbelievable experience. I hope to visit again in the future. I would also like to say that the people on the residential helped me a lot like when it came to the gill scrambling .I was a bit on edge because of a phobia of open water but, with the people I had around me they supported me by asking me if I was ok after we completed certain parts and all the way through the exercise. That is what gave me the determination to actually complete the tasks set. There was continual support to myself and anyone else in the group who needed it from the instructors.
Comments- Rob Allison - Senior Sports Development Officer
"What a fantastic setting. I felt, it helped with people's confidence, laying the foundations for some great team building. I helped to bridge gaps with partnership organisations, to overcome problems of the past, I also helped each of the partners to understand the part of the work which will help us all in the future when we are faced with problems, knowing that we all can share in overcoming them."
Comments - Sam Roberts - Apprentice Dance and Football Coach
"After being at Brathay, I feel a lot more comfortable around my work colleagues. It was a great experience and we learnt a lot of team building skills. I would recommend Brathay to any organisation that involves working in a team as Brathay will deliver the course in the most knowledgeable and exciting way possible."
Comments - John Scott - P.C.S.O
"Brathay has helped me in my role as a P.C.S.O by giving me an understanding of people's personalities and helped me to learn a little bit more about my own. Learning about and working with, different agencies was great because it shows partnerships can work together and benefit each other. While at Brathay I found my thoughts and feelings on a rollercoaster ride, while overcoming my fear of heights, working as a team and working on my own. It was a great experience and I would love to do it again. I would recommend any team or groups to take the challenge to learn from each other, by going on the course."
Comments - Paul Thorpe - Community Sports Coach
"Brathay gave me a chance to think about myself and how I act around others in certain situations. The Brathay experience was such a great team event which I would certainly do again."
Comments - Paul Weeks - Community Sports Coach
"Brathay was an amazing experience for me as I have come back to work with much more confidence as a person, who can portray ideas in a mature mannerism. Brathay taught me many skills I did not have before, and reinforced my teamwork and communication skills."
Comments - Jonathan Westerman - Community Sports Coach
"Brathay gave me the opportunity to work closely with others in the group. I felt a valuable team member who contributed well in all the tasks presented to us. Also my highlight of the whole trip would have been on the first day when we happened to row through the set of Coronation Street."
Comments - Jane Banks - P.C.S.O .
"I had an amazing experience at Brathay, I learnt a lot about myself and other people. The experience with working with other agencies was invaluable and I have learnt more about what they do and can offer. The activities were great fun and my favourite has to be Gill Scrambling!! I would recommend this course to my colleagues should the opportunity arise."
Comments – Dominic Beal – Apprentice Youth Worker
“Throughout my time at Brathay, I learned to have more confidence in myself and found out how to work as part of a team and come up with new ideas inside the team. It also taught me the importance of working hard and when it is the right time to have a laugh and a joke.”
Comments - Damian Tominey - Apprentice Community Coach
Brathay was a great experience for me, and gave me a massive confidence boost. We were there to try new things, so I thought I would try leading instead of being a follower, and it turns out people think I am a good leader, which is a relief because I didn’t want to make myself look a total plonker. Before I went I was terrified of heights, and even though I still am, completing the high ropes taught me to give 100% to everything I do. I would also like to thank all the other people who took part, for making it funny and enjoyable.
