The month of June saw the Get Hooked on Fishing North East Lincs Coaches assist at the newly refurbished "Epic Centre" building at the Lincolnshire Showground. A group of 65 local schoolchildren from the area were given instruction on the environmental impact of rubbish and how they can play a part in recycling many waste products to help the environment.
They also had talk about wildlife including a presentation about native bats. The students participated in an environmental games session and were given an exclusive tour of the "Epic Centre" which has been built and operates in the most environmentally friendly way possible.
Finally the "Get Hooked on Fishing" Coaches delivered angling based activities where the youngster's participated in Pole Cupping, Fly Casting to finish off the day. Project Leader Mark Fenty says "this was really a support session to one of our key partners the "Environment Agency". It was also an opportunity for me and the Get Hooked on Fishing Coaches to see if something like this would work in our region" He says "I am sure is will work well and there were some great contacts made at the "Epic Centre" which now may be used by the project with schools etc from the North East Lincolnshire area". |

The Environment Agency also had specially trained staff who gave a demonstration showing the beasties that live in local waterways.
Later the students were treated be a special fly past by the locally based "Red Arrows" Flying Team.
